How I Built a Telehealth Practice for Women’s Health
I started my medical career at 17 and never left. Learn how burnout led me to build a virtual primary care and perimenopause telehealth practice focused on women’s health.
Over the years, I’ve worked in many different healthcare roles and settings. Titles changed. Responsibilities changed. Seasons of life changed. But one thing never did — I never left medicine.
That long, layered experience shaped how I practice today. I’ve seen healthcare work incredibly well, and I’ve seen where it falls short — especially for women.
From Early Healthcare Work to Nurse Practitioner
When I became a nurse practitioner, I carried with me years of firsthand experience. I understood how fragmented care can feel. I saw how symptoms are often treated in isolation rather than as part of a bigger picture.
Like many clinicians, I didn’t burn out because I stopped caring — I burned out because I cared deeply.
Burnout came quietly:
- Short appointment times
- Productivity pressure
- Limited space for meaningful conversations
I wanted more time with patients. I wanted continuity. I wanted the ability to truly listen.
Why I Created Twin Ports Telemedicine
That desire led me to create twinportstelemedicine.com, a virtual primary care practice built differently.
Here, I provide:
- Comprehensive primary care
- Chronic disease management
- 30-minute appointments
- Fully virtual visits
This model allows me to care for the whole person, not just a diagnosis. Virtual primary care removes barriers like travel, waiting rooms, and rushed visits — while preserving connection and trust.
How Perimenopause Telehealth Became a Core Focus
About a year ago, my work naturally expanded into perimenopause and menopause care.
I kept seeing women with symptoms like:
- Fatigue
- Brain fog
- Mood changes
- Weight shifts
- Sleep disruption
Many had been told this was “just part of getting older.”
It isn’t.
What started as a focused menopause program quickly grew into a comprehensive perimenopause telehealth approach — combining education, hormone support when appropriate, lifestyle care, and long-term follow-up.
I’ve now had dozens of women move through this work. Many of them choose to stay with me afterward as their ongoing primary care provider — something I value deeply.
Continuity matters. Relationships matter. Women deserve providers who don’t disappear after one phase of care.
Primary Care and Menopause Care — Together
One of the things that makes my practice unique is that menopause care doesn’t exist separately from primary care.
Women don’t stop needing:
- Preventive care
- Chronic disease management
- Ongoing support
My approach allows women to move seamlessly between perimenopause care and long-term primary care — with the same provider who already knows their story.
Why I Started Writing This Blog
This blog exists to give women clarity.
Here, I write about:
- Perimenopause and menopause
- Hormones and metabolism
- Food, protein, and lifestyle in midlife
- What I see clinically every day
It’s a slower space — meant for education, reflection, and reassurance.
Because this is the truth I want more women to hear:
You are not broken.
You are not imagining things.
And you do not have to live in misery.
If something feels “off,” it deserves attention.
My newsletter is where I share longer-form thoughts, clinical insight, and real-life observations from my work in virtual primary care and perimenopause telehealth. It’s a space for education without overwhelm — covering hormones, midlife health, food, stress, and the questions women are often told not to ask. If you’ve ever felt like something is “off” but couldn’t quite name it, this is where I write to help you connect the dots and feel less alone.
If you’re feeling overwhelmed, confused, or frustrated by changes in your body, this masterclass is a calm place to start. It’s a guided conversation through perimenopause — what’s normal, what’s not, and what you don’t have to accept as “just aging.” You’ll leave with clarity, language for what you’re experiencing, and a better understanding of what supportive care can look like.
